Delete your Murmurly account

Account deletion is permanent. Here's how to do it, what we remove, and what we keep (and why).

From the app

Open Murmurly, tap your profile, then go to Settings → Account → Delete account. We'll ask you to confirm before anything is removed.

By email (if you can't sign in)

Write to privacy@murmurly.app with the subject "Account deletion." Include the email tied to your account and the device or platform you signed up on. We respond within 7 days.

What we remove

Journal entries, Murmurly conversations, memory summaries, action items, your profile, sign-in credentials, and push notification tokens. The encryption keys that protect your content are destroyed first, so the encrypted data is unreadable even before it leaves our storage.

What we keep (and why)

Anonymized usage counts with no link back to you. Payment receipts required by tax law for a limited period. Anything you wrote inside a shared circle stays visible to the other members, because that's their copy of the conversation, not yours. If you reported a message to us, we keep that report as a safety record, with the link to your account removed so it no longer identifies you.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data under applicable privacy laws (GDPR Article 17 in the EU and UK, CCPA in California, Privacy Act APP 12 in Australia). You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority at any time. Questions: privacy@murmurly.app.

Timeline

  • Immediately: your account is disabled, sign-in is blocked, and your encryption keys are destroyed.
  • Within 30 days: data is purged from primary storage.
  • Within 90 days: data is removed from backups.
