About

Why we made Murmurly

Life does not wait for a good moment.

We went around in loops: the same conversation, a lot of late night talks that solved nothing, both of us tired, and the whole thing back again a few days later. It was a frustrating stretch. Eventually we did the sensible thing and asked for help.

The first appointment we could get was weeks away. That is normal. It is also the problem, because weeks is a long time when something is sitting between two people, and the feeling does not wait its turn.

What we did not want to lose in the meantime was us. The reason we chose each other is still the ground the rest of it stands on, even in a week when that is hard to see. So we wanted somewhere to put things down when they turned up, instead of carrying them to another midnight conversation. Somewhere to be honest first and talk second, and to keep hold of the part worth keeping while we worked out the rest.

That is what Murmurly is. A private place to write, and a guided conversation you can open to the people it involves when you are ready. It holds on to what you have already said, so you are never starting from nothing. It is not the appointment, and it is not meant to be. It is for the in between: the weeks before one, the weeks after, and all the ordinary days that do not fall neatly on either side.

Murmurly supports reflection and guided conversation. It is not therapy, counseling, medical care, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency support. If you may be in danger or need urgent help, contact local emergency services or a crisis hotline in your country.
