Cookie Policy

The cookies and similar technologies Murmurly uses, why each one is needed, and how to control them.

About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how GRAFSIM PTY LTD (ABN 59699800827) trading as Murmurly (Murmurly, we, us or our) uses cookies and similar technologies on https://murmurly.app and the Murmurly web application (Website).

A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, software development kits, pixels and device identifiers. In this policy, cookies includes those technologies where the context permits.

This policy should be read with our Privacy Policy and Website Terms.

Our current approach

We use cookies only where reasonably required to operate, secure and provide the Website and requested services. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics providers.

We do not use cookies to read private journal content. Private journal and AI-assisted conversation content is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

If we introduce non-essential analytics, advertising or similar cookies, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required before setting them.

Cookies we may use

The categories below describe cookies or similar technologies that may be present depending on the part of the Website you use and the features you enable.

Strictly necessary and security

Used to operate the Website, route traffic, maintain sessions, authenticate users, prevent fraud or abuse and protect accounts. These technologies are necessary for requested functionality and generally cannot be disabled through our controls.

Functional and preference

Used to remember choices such as language, display, consent status or other settings and to provide user-selected features. This includes the cookie that carries your chosen language across the site, and the short-lived cookie that records a self-declaration when our approximate-location check misidentifies an Australian visitor as being outside Australia.

Payments

Stripe or an app-store provider may use its own necessary technologies when you start or complete a purchase. Those providers control their technologies under their own policies.

Notifications and embedded services

Apple, Google, Expo or another requested service may process a token or identifier to deliver a notification or embedded function. These are used only when the relevant feature is requested or enabled. If you enable notification previews, limited message text may pass through Apple, Google and Expo as described in our Privacy Policy. AI-generated content is not included in notification previews.

Session and persistent cookies

Session cookies generally expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until their set expiry date or until you delete them. The precise duration depends on the cookie's purpose and provider.

We configure retention to be no longer than reasonably necessary for the relevant function, security control, consent record or legal requirement.

Third-party technologies

Some necessary or functional technologies may be set or controlled by service providers that support hosting, authentication, payments, notifications or application delivery, including Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, Apple, Google and Expo.

Those providers may process limited device, transaction or network information under their own privacy terms. Our current sub-processor list is available at /legal/subprocessors.

We do not currently permit Google Analytics, advertising networks or social-media advertising pixels to track use of the Website.

Your choices

You can control or delete cookies through your browser or device settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the Website, account login, security controls, payments or other requested features from working.

Where a consent tool is displayed, you can use it to accept, reject or change choices for non-essential cookies. Strictly necessary cookies may operate without consent where permitted by law.

Browser do-not-track signals are not interpreted consistently across the industry. Because we do not currently use behavioural advertising or third-party analytics cookies, we do not use those signals to alter advertising or analytics processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our technologies, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version and seek consent for newly introduced non-essential cookies where required.
